A year of surprises!

What a wonderful, busy and fast year it has been! I think back to that day that I packed all of my things into 5 suitcases and moved to another country called Swaziland (which feels like yesterday)! I had been on several team trips and even been an intern here, but didn’t really know what I was getting myself into! I knew things could/would change on a daily basis, but I was ready to face what the Lord had for me! A few days after I arrived, I learned that I would be writing all of the care point newsletters…19 of our Manzini care points and 6 of our Nsoko care points. Boy have I learned a lot about myself doing this! I love it though because I get to be out at the care points all the time! Now, I only write 20 of our Manzini newsletters! Recently, I have been put under the Administration department, which I love! So with writing newsletters, I also help our Admin girls with taking profile pictures, update pictures, projects and whatever else they need help with! It definitely has been a learning process for me, but I wouldn’t change any of it! They have been fussing at me because I don’t know Siswati yet, but they teach me new words all the time! My goal for this year and the future is to learn the language! It is hard, but I know I can do it…I just have to find a teacher!

Along with admin work and newsletters, I help with leading teams. With us feeding over 6,000 kids it is hard for us to love on all of the kids so it is great to have teams come over and help us with that. There is a lot of work that goes into leading a team…before, during and after the team leaves, but it is so rewarding in the end! I just had my second team of the year, and it was a blast! There were a lot of “newbies” on the team, so it was so good to see them interact with the kids and the ladies at their care point. I get to see them fall in love with the beautiful people of Swaziland just like I did 5 years ago!

With it being a year, I wanted to take some time to rest and reflect on what has happened in the past year in the ministry! I also wanted to take some time away…here in Swaziland we call it going on holiday! I have a little free time before things get busy again with teams and such. So I have decided that I would take some time visiting friends…well that are semi-close to me anyway!! I was surprising my friends, so I couldn’t write anything about it until after I saw them! Now that I am here, I can tell. Some of you know them, but these are my friends from back home that live here in Uganda with Four Corners Ministries. Myron, Holly, Ryan and Rachel West are very dear to my heart, and I look up to Myron and Holly in so many ways!! I am so excited to be here with them for a week, and see their life here in Gulu!

Thank you all for the love and prayers!! I will hope to update what all I have experienced here in Uganda when I return to Swaziland next week!
